Hello!

Hi everyone!

The last few weeks have been very busy for us, and I have been training really hard too.  My family and I drove to Anaheim, CA for the IGC tournament, but unfortunately I did not get to compete.  We were waiting for 4 hours for them to start the gi competitions and we would have had to wait even longer for them to start.  I was really tired and upset and so were my brothers so we went home.  I was really bummed out that I didn’t get to compete because I have been working really hard and was so excited.  My mom said I could take a break from training but I decided that I wanted to keep going and try for the next competition in December or January.  My mom and dad are looking into what is coming up.  I was upset about what happened but I didn’t want to give up on all the work I have been doing.

Training has been going really great.  I have been doing so awesome at my rear chokes - that is my favorite move to go for.  I love taking the back and getting the boys to tap out. J  I have also been getting better at my Judo throws. I really think having that class has helped my Jiu Jitsu.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.  I am very thankful for my family and for having Jiu Jitsu in my life.  Ill keep you posted when I find out about my next tournament.

Love,
Summer

Back in Business Baby!

Hi Everyone,

Sorry it’s been a little while since I posted but I got really sick last week and had to miss a bunch of Jiu Jitsu.  I’m healthy now and back in action!!!

Before I was out sick, I started my competition training class and Judo.  I liked the competition training because I got to meet some new professors who know a lot about competing in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.  We are still learning about techniques that help us get points and all of the rules of competition.  I am excited to go back to class tonight.  In Judo, I learned how to flip someone over you by grabbing their arms and using your hips to throw them.  I think this will be a lot of fun and help my Jiu  Jitsu get even better.

I hope everyone has a great week.  I will let you know how my week goes and what I have learned.

Love,
Summer

A little about me and my Jiu Jitsu

Hello!

My name is Summer and I am starting this journal to track how I am doing with my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training. I have been doing Jiu Jitsu since I was 4 years old training at Gracie Morumbi - Fabio Leopoldo in Thousand Oaks, CA.  I am now almost 8 and I have my 2nd stripe on my Yellow and Black belt . I have my first real tournament coming up in November and I am really training hard so I can do well. I am also starting Judo training today and I am very excited to learn something new and use with my Jiu Jitsu skills.

A couple of weeks ago I was in an in house tournament for our academy and came in 1st place for my division! I had a lot of fun and was very proud of myself for doing a great job. Thank you to my dad and mom for taking me to Jiu Jitsu and coaching me, Coach Mike Payson for being such a great teacher and thank you to Professor Erik Klinger for helping to calm my nerves before my match. I am very grateful for all of my professors and coaches for helping me train and making Jiu Jitsu so much fun.

Come by any time to see how things are going and look at pictures. Thank you for all of your love and support!

Love,
Summer
